Fundraising - Tsunami Fund - Washington, DC

WHEN? Thursday, Jan 13, 2005
WHAT and HOW MUCH? Somefriends are organizing a
fundraising happy hour here in Washington, DC this thursday to help this
cause. It would mean the world to us if everyone could atleast drop by,
even for a little while. Here are the details:

How it will work:
Option 1: Make a donation at the door and get special prices for drinks
Option 2: Pay normal prices for drinks with the donation included.

So, THE MORE YOU DRINK, THE MORE YOU ARE HELPING. < ----->( LOL) hahahaha

The Cause:

Help raise funds to Rebuild the Samaritan Children Home in Navalady,
SriLanka.

I hope you can all make it. Please pass this on to everyone you know. The
more the merrier.
*************************************************

Nothing personal, but just thought it was funny. hahaha... no offence to the people concerned. Go to check in this link for more details :)

INdisguise bro, thank you for bringing this up. Let me give you my opinion on this.

Its so sad, nowadays ppl really have lost all the sentiments in them. We are so filled with ourselves. There is a motive on everything we do, we have lost the meaning of giving. It sounds so awful, to have a party and raise money for the victims that were hit by such an disaster, and especially such an event is a just a plain dis-respect towards humanity..

Ppl are dying, and yes we do need to help, but not by parting?? dammn. What is the point of giving if we are really enjoying. Taini, if it was a party promoted by some big celebrity, then yes, alot of money wud be raised and cud really be utilized to help and plus it wud really be emphasized on tsunami victims.

I am also amazed by work of Sajha.com. they Established a, "NOT NEEDED AT ALL", Contirbution center, because it was forced by some sajhaties, BUT has FAILED to even put up condolenses to the victims. how amazing!!

Confused bro, your point is noted, but i for one, am not against any event that cud be a lil helpful to the needy.

"Contribution center" not needed? Are ya refering to the one created in sajha? Well i think even if we could put together couple of "K", i think it is lil something.

But i totaly agree with you agree with you on this point--->

"BUT has FAILED to even put up condolenses to the victims. how amazing!! "

Agreed that we see these kindda msgs everywhere, but the place where we actually are accepting donations for the unfortunate victims, should have considered at least a condolence msg. I believe, sajha failed in this one.

your statement struck me even more, considering SAJHA never waits for another day to update the PICS of any fuctions celebrating just about anything ( which is entertaining), while it failed to provide any real condolence or human msgs.

Perhaps, the admn. would learn from this mistake and would be prompt to respond to much important human issues than just posting gathering/ parties pics.

"am not against any event that cud be a lil helpful to the needy"

indisiguise bro, i wud careless even if they give out strip party and raise money for tsunami victims. I do not care, but common you know and i know, if you had a personal death of ur family memember wud you have a party(including alchool) and raise money for his funeral? ITs matter of human respect here bro. NOt about just raising money. Its matter of sentiments, feelings and emotions, i do beilive which we are loosing it day by day. I think this is an awful event, and I for one, wudnt even step my feet in that party to celebrate human death.

'Yes, indisguise bro, its true indeed. Every writer from sajha, be it Nepe or Sitara proposed to have a fund raiser, but both of them failed to even offer than condelance. Be it thru nepe's poetry or sitara's writing both of them failed. And infact i did ask San long time ago, to put up a condolence for these victims. He did say it was a nice piece of advice but he ignored it. I do not know how busy this man can be!

well, i know my anger is total waste, but it is sad to obverse our feelings and conerned getting lesser and leseer towards another human soul.

Nice sayin' Confused bro,
Lets pray for departed souls and lets help them who really needs help.
Today i got an 3-mail from my Italian Fren, appealing for an identification of a lil' girl,(see pic. below) who is a victim of Tsunami. Her parents are missing and she is so scared till now that she can't even tell her country's name. She is in a hospital in Phuket, Thailand.
My personal request to all sajhaties, please copy this picture and forward it to your frens everywhere. May b our lil' effort can help her to find out her destination.
Thanks in advance!

Foe

Confused sweety, Do I detect whining?!

And by the way, I do like the color of your hair- shirt, the ashes rubbed in mourning, "your chatti pitti pitti royeko anguish", your fasting, shorning and shaving your head in the name of the Tsunami Victims!!!! If that's how you flaunt your condolences.... go ahead, noone is stopping you!

If you want an audience, I will watch you sufficiently impressed. In the process, I dearly hope you will grow up a bit!

Indisguise, I have usually believed that a good cause needs no justification but NOT in this case. The increase in alcohol consumption to save/help lives is an oxymoron. The chances of taking lives and hurting others under the influence of alcohol is greater.

The color of a person's mourning is a personal choice, like the choice of undergarments; some flaunt it and others don't. Boxers or briefs (or nothing); polka dots or stripes, wear it, the way one chooses to!

By the way: Happy New Year! For New Year's Celebration, some friends and I went for a strenuous hike on Billy Goat Trail in Great Falls. The beauty, serenity and the pure surge of adrenaline helped ease the horrors going in the world. Nature's power to humble all, in both her fury and her beauty.

Hey Foe! yeuta poem jawos na, please. :)

This is in response to the allegation that the admin is quick to post pictures of events and celebrations, but fails to provide condolence. The very fact that we have set up fund collection to donate as a 'sajha nepali community contribution' shows that we empathize with the victims and that we are saddened by the disaster. Empathizing is a way to show our condolence. We are deeply affected by thousands of people dying, and our attempt to raise some money as a group is our way of showing condolence.

Maybe we are not posting an official condolence letter, but we are expressing it by attempting to raise some money to benefit the cause. For the ones who have shown disappointment because there was no "official" condolence or a notice that conformed to their interpretation of condolence, I urge you to not let these subtleties of personal interpretations influence your judgements.

Sitara, like i said earlier, whatever you do, isnt my bussiness. You care or do not care, I simply dont care. I do not want to start any rage, but it does hurt when you see the same Sitara or Nepe who use to write abt defending humanity, didnt even upload a single piece dedicating it to the victims. Sitara and if it was the case for gaining audience, i wud have probably started a thread long time ago. But i did not want to be the "whiner"(as u call it) so i stopped myself, now someone else started the thread, cudnt help myself but reply.

"And by the way, I do like the color of your hair- shirt, the ashes rubbed in mourning, "your chatti pitti pitti royeko anguish", your fasting, shorning and shaving your head in the name of the Tsunami Victims!!!"

Sitara, funny. I certainly didnt do all those things, but i did do all the things i could do to help these victims, not only donating few bucks.

San bro, malai maf gara bro, I do not want to argue, especially on these kind of issue. I hope the fund raiser you have started has already collected thousands of dollars. Thank you for doing the things you do for humanity.
