I think the whole Sangina saga is a bit overhyped since we Nepali had high expections of her as it was the only feel feel good story we could have in the Olympics. Don't take me wrong, she is a great athlete and qualified on the merit, but then, when was her last major win? That was 97 Asian Games when she scored a Gold....and that was 7/8 years ago. So, are we heartbroken by her loss? Definitely. Surprised? Nah !!!

16 officials with 5 athletes to Sydney 2000 Olympics...... How many got lost over there???
I knew a guy who was training for Triathlon (was the best in Nepal, and had won many in US, HongKong, Malayasia) in US for Sydney Olympics 2000. He was supposed to meet up with the team in Sydney when the officials called him and told him that his Olympic Identification card never arrived Kathmandu. So he did not get to go. But once the Olympic games were over and the team and officials arrived in Nepal, someone from the Nepali Sports Committee sent him his ID card. And not to anyone's surprise, his picture on the ID was removed, and bio-data erased; and later on we discovered that some other person (may be official's wife, son, or whoever) had put his/her picture, added his/her bio-date and went as an additional official, got a paid vacation, and enjoyed Sydney.
This is very true.
