"How does the Bhagavad-Gita exemplify the impact of conflicting duties on how one ought to live? Must there be a precise answer to such ethical dilemmas in order for us to have a good life?

Have you ever read the bhagwat geeta. read it u will get it.
There are different paths for different people, different age, and different gender.
watch ramayan or mahabharat that also explains it well.

karma - Duty
Dharma - righteousness

Karma is bigger than Dhrama ?Not exactly
Doing the Right duty ..hope that answers your conflicting duties question.

Gentlemen and ladies,

In fact it is a very valid reasoning to delve upon after a very long time in Sajha .

The purport of the Bhagavad Geeta is about the conflicting duties of a man and the acid test of the sheer decision making ablity of him/her at this excruciating junctre.

Whatever philosophical eluciditation or instruction may lord krishna intend to impart in the ever doubting mind of Arjuna , ultimately it will be Arjuna's discerning attempt to find the path of righteousness and justice that will make him good or bad.

In fact, noing is good or bad as such. If you have faith in religion and if it the real faith you will always have hesitation and disinterest to go along the path of injustice and bad karma or paap. This very deterrent factor in a person's psyche, mind or aatma will prevent him from being tempted to a path of vaasna or sinful acts.

There will be real testing situations coming along your way and even the most religious people will have to overcome these impediments before and finally overcoming these stumbling blocks. These types of conflicting situations and obstacles are bound to be there on anyone's life and the way one attempts to rise above them never succumbing to these will finally enable them to the superhumanly state of sages or the Buddha , later propagated by the Buddha popularized by his disciples.

But whatever Lord Krishna preached in the Mahabharaat was in a different situation. The real issue of Dharma that time was not about the issues of the worldly life and living. As ordinary mortals. we will have to face every action that befalls our way with the true sense of righteousness in our ability. Whatever we will do judging from our perspective of moral good is the true ability of our self and we can not go beyond that in an attempt to be an impossible God.

So in a dire strait, Please delve inside into yourself and beseech the moral strength and do whatever is possible in your maximum ability . That is the Godliness inside you and your Godinside will give you that you deserve. For, the concept and expounding of Karma as taught in the Mahabharata is not in seeking the external God but the God in the form of spiritual strength inside you that comes in your rescue.

भगवानले सबैलाई सामर्थ्य प्रदान गरून!
धन्यवाद !

A
verse from Gita

"You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of actions. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty."
