From my understanding, Nepal was not directly rules by any foreign power, but she definitely was under the influence of British. Nepal was a satellite state for British. So if being a satellite state means being ruled by a foreign power or not is up to your judgement; as for me it was ruled by British.
And not to forget the war between Nepal and Tibet which Nepal lost and had to pay tax to Tibet for quite a few years. What would that mean?

I remember reading in High School about nepal ruling some parts of India and Tibet for some times in history book. Again Tibet ruling some parts of Nepal for some times. I guess history is always like that. But never read anywhere anyone ruling whole of Nepal. May be some historian in our sajha can help us.

Ruled by Shah bansh! They were not even native from Nepal. They were migrated from Iran, they were muslim origine.

According to Book "Rise and Fall of Jung Bahadur Rana".

Saha royal families were busy in royal corruption and conspiracy. Saha royal families did not care political, economical and governmental situation of Nepal.

So Junga Bahadur Rana took power which was backed by British East India Company. Junga Bahadur used to get political advice directly from British embassy of Katmandu.

So British was the Advisor and Junga Bahadur Rana was an action taker.

Nepal = British + Junga Bahadur Rana.

Britain recognized Nepal as an independent nation only in 1923 after the participation of soldier's from Nepal in the Great War. Obviously, certain historic facts were kept off our textbooks. For example: King Prithivi Narayana punishing citizens by cutting off their nose or ears after the conquest of Kirtipur. It has been mentioned in Kirtchpatrik's Nepal quoting a christian missionary who visited back then.

To a different question of where the Shah dynasty came from: it has been mentioned on www.4dw.net/royalark/Nepal/nepal.htm that the ancestors were from Chitor dynasty of Udaipur, presently in India. I haven't done my own research on that yet.

More lights would be appreciated.
