If you don't have job in hand and applying H1B through Dhoti consultancy and not sure about getting a job for another several months after Training then its better to work in OPT. It is because:
1. If you have to be in bench for more than 3 months once H1b starts in october, then you will be automatically out of status if they have not run your payroll.
2. Even if they run payroll they will ask you money to run the payroll equivalent to the taxes they have to pay federal and other taxes.
3. I am hearing anyone hardly getting job through consultancy these days. Those who are getting are either very laborious or lucky.
4. If you can get a employer you can extend OPT for upto 27 months. 27 months is hell of a lot amount of time.Till then situation will improve. Since OPT is still F1 status, you can always go to school so no hassle of H1 to F1. Also you can find job on your own and apply H1 next year if you get 27 months OPT extension.
6. H1b has lots of restrictions in case you dont have real job.
Also in OPT you can save your status even if you do volunteer work or any kind of work.
There is no restriction of minimum pay as in H1b.
If you still want to join consultancy, try to join our own Nepalese consultancy. I know one in Irving Dallas.
