Hello Everybody,

Please read this article to find out how Anti-Cristiano Ronaldo people are affecting his chance of winning the Gillete Best Young Player award.

Title: Supporters Hijack Ronaldo’s vote
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2006/5153870.stm

People who are disappointed by Rooney’s sent off during Quarterfinal game against blame the whole thing on Cristiano. These fans seem to forget Soccer is won by a superb game and respect for each other on field. No player in mind right mind lays hands on others, like Rooney did.

Cristiano was leading the people’s vote, but people who hate him now because of England’s loss in Quarter Final against Portugal are spreading a chain email asking others not to vote for Cristiano and instead go for Ecuador's Luis Valencia. That email turned more than 140,000 internet users to vote in against Ronaldo overnight, and gave a lead of about 50,000 votes to Valencia.

Cristiano is definitely one of the best young players in this tournament. Just because England looses does not mean that people take away the award he deserves. Cristiano is already going to have a tough time when he will play for Manchester United with his team mates Rooney etc. We have to give our support to Cristiano by proving that he is still the people’s choice as the best young player. Let’s log on to www.fifaworldcup.yahoo.com and vote as Cristiano Ronaldo as the best young player.

Please go read articles about this issue on the links listed below. You will know more about how people are trying to side line Portugal. No matter what happens people should not have gone so against Ronaldo, and now that they already are, we have also got to show that Portugal and its fine players are liked and will be supported by many fans. I guess the voting is just over; but it would be still worth it to check these out and put out comments.

Thanks much.

The way he was booed away right from teh start was very very bad. Although I am not a Portugal fan, it was digusting to see these English fans booing him everytime he touched the ball..

My vote however is for "lil kid Messi" :-))

Since Messi did not get enough chance to be exposed in the tournament, i think Ronaldo is the best contender among the rest.

Actually MeMySelfAndNEpal has a point about not enforcing your openion on others. The proper notion should have been to vote for who you think is good in your views.

Ron the Con suffers on boos cruise
06/07/06
Cristiano Ronaldo’s every touch was booed as he paid the price for his unsavoury antics against England.

Just days ago the Manchester United winger was winking at his bench after playing a part in Wayne Rooney’s dismissal and then scoring the winning penalty in the heart-breaking shoot-out.

But he suffered a measure of what Glenn Hoddle might call karma and the rest of us know as getting what he deserves.

He found himself jeered for the entire match - perhaps an indication that his bad sportsmanship has earned him enemies not just in England but across the wider football world.

It certainly doesn’t seem to have done him any favours with referees or managers. France coach Raymond Domenech accused him of diving to win a free-kick, waving an imaginary card in the direction of referee Jorge Larrionda - to the fury of Luiz Felipe Scolari.

There was further controversy when Ronaldo appeared to fling himself to the floor trying to win a penalty shortly after France had taken an equally controversial lead from the spot.

In fairness to the winger, he was able to ignore the vitriol to be Portugal’s most dangerous man in spells, twice firing wide after scintillating runs.

But there are matters off the field to consider, too, because his future at Old Trafford is in serious doubt following claims that he wants to join Real Madrid despite signing a new contract last season. So he might have to get used to the booing.

It certainly added to the sense of frustration for him as Portugal struggled. Perhaps cat-calls were predictable, but England’s revenge mission since Ronaldo sent them home had previously centred on the Internet.

By the time last night’s match kicked off his lead in the FIFA young player of the tournament poll had been cut to just two per cent after an e-mail campaign to vote for second-placed Luis Valencia of Ecuador. Ronaldo may also have been surprised to see himself up for sale on eBay, offered to the world for a starting bid of one pence by a mystery supporter in Rochdale.

Described by the seller as "a cheating goofy England-hating Portugezer, not welcome within 120 miles of Manchester" he surprisingly attracted 32 bids, rising to £10,000, before the advert was pulled.

Ronaldo’s advisers were also at work yesterday, releasing quotes claiming he has no problem with Rooney. But not even the men of spin could save him from the ire or from the growing reputation for unsporting play which looks likely to dog his career for years.

ronaldo doesnot deserve to be called best young footballer. he is a disgrace.

it will be absolute travesty if he wins that. We want a young footballer who not only plays good football but also sets god example in the field.

Bidhan40, I have been following your idiotic rant about C.Ronaldo. You have given him so many disgraceful labels. If you want to prove your point or disprove a point that you are not an idiot, can you give me one example where he exemplifies your labels? It looks like you are an english fan, and that you follow english media. If this is true than it is no wonder you have developed such an opinion of a good soccer player.
So let's get in a healthy conversation and let's see what your arguments are.

C. Ronaldo is the man of the tournament for me. You can hate him as much as you want but you can not deny the fact that he is a quality player, the kind that was lacking in English team. His dribbling is so good to watch, not to mention his superb passes.

Even after the semi final match, former French palyer Maseille Dessaili - hope I spelt that correctly - had heaps of praise for him.

The majority of people hating him are English at the moment, not British. Remember, C. Ronaldo is very popular in Scotland at the moment.

In short: Ronaldo for player of the tournament.

Media put so much pressure on the 85' born player. That is a young age; and the media sneaked on him to pick up his body language when the incident happened. There is no arguments that he is a class player, at least his terrific foot works are.

So, Lukas Podolski is the Best Young Player of Fifa 2006. Deservedly so. C. Ronaldo bhayeko bhaye it would have been a mockery of the whole award. It is not just technical skills that make you a good player, there is something called fair play too. Here is what FIFA has to say about the award-

"This is the first year that FIFA has awarded the Gillette Best Young Player Trophy. Designed to reward the player born on or after 1 January 1985 who makes the biggest impression at the FIFA World Cup, the criteria for the award include style, charisma, fair play and appetite for the game, as well as pure technical skill."

he is a f%$$ng whiner and should have been red-carded for the insane amount of dives he had.

I love it that he won't get the award.

A "sportsman" does not behave like he does.

Please look at the replay of the Portugal matches and decide by yourself if he even deserves to be nominated for the award. Not only his plays but his attitude matters as well. And in that department, he needs a big improvement.

Sure he is good and all, but that does not make him a "great" football player.
Greatness is not merely measured by talent.

I like lucas podolski. he deserves the best young player award. after all he has scored 3 goals more than any other young player.

we dont want any wrong person to get the award who has set bad precedence to kids.

i wont tell his name. you dont need to be rocket scientist to find who he is. just look at this video.
