Hello Everybody,

Please read this article to find out how Anti-Cristiano Ronaldo people are affecting his chance of winning the Gillete Best Young Player award.

Title: Supporters Hijack Ronaldo’s vote
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2006/5153870.stm

People who are disappointed by Rooney’s sent off during Quarterfinal game against blame the whole thing on Cristiano. These fans seem to forget Soccer is won by a superb game and respect for each other on field. No player in mind right mind lays hands on others, like Rooney did.

Cristiano was leading the people’s vote, but people who hate him now because of England’s loss in Quarter Final against Portugal are spreading a chain email asking others not to vote for Cristiano and instead go for Ecuador's Luis Valencia. That email turned more than 140,000 internet users to vote in against Ronaldo overnight, and gave a lead of about 50,000 votes to Valencia.

Cristiano is definitely one of the best young players in this tournament. Just because England looses does not mean that people take away the award he deserves. Cristiano is already going to have a tough time when he will play for Manchester United with his team mates Rooney etc. We have to give our support to Cristiano by proving that he is still the people’s choice as the best young player. Let’s log on to www.fifaworldcup.yahoo.com and vote as Cristiano Ronaldo as the best young player.

Please go read articles about this issue on the links listed below. You will know more about how people are trying to side line Portugal. No matter what happens people should not have gone so against Ronaldo, and now that they already are, we have also got to show that Portugal and its fine players are liked and will be supported by many fans. I guess the voting is just over; but it would be still worth it to check these out and put out comments.

Thanks much.

Everyone dives in Football aka Soccer......just becoz one dives more often than others is not enough to discount the skills that C.Ronaldo possesses. He can take 2-3 defenders at the same time, and still beat them......I didn't know him until the World Cup started, but once I saw him in the first match, I've become his Fan...he is undoubtedly a supreme talent, a talent who can very well be the very best in couple more World Cups to come ...Besides, he is only 21..give him some time to mature...and we will talk about him in the likes of superior strikers we have seen in recent years ........My vote is in for C.Ronaldo !

Lucas Podolski is a good young talent. He has emerged as the frontman and a great goalscorer. C. Ronaldo, like I have always said, is a much better all round player. He dribbles well, his crosses and his skills, is second to none. But my question is, why are you into diving so much and trying to get a penalty, trying to get a player red-carded, trying unorthodox things when you are a genius as the talent of CR? I agree with some of my friends here who said he is unsportsman, he could have just laid back and utilized his skills and that could have equalled by no one. I agree with Fifa here. They are looking for someone to set an example and the unsportsman like conduct from CR backfired him and he did not win.
On a positive not to the fella. Awards maybe a big thing and this is a lesson for him to learn. He can go a long way in delivering the promise he has shown over the course of next 10 years. There lies ahead a lot of awards that he can win with his potential in his footballing career. His job at hand is to ignore the booing, set an example that he plays fair than anybody, play for ManUtd, play along side Rooney, play upto his potential that we know he can deliver and be the sensatinal Portuguese that he is and he can be. This is the path out for him, remember English medias have the right to say and they are obviously disappointed. Portuguese media would have been disappointed at Rooney had Rooney done the same. It is a mutual thing. Beckam was treated the same way. But remember Beckam showed a lot of consistency and became one of the most noted player in England. Ronaldo can do the the same.
I was watching one ManUtd game with Everton, I think. Everton attacked hard but the break that I saw ManUtd make was absolutely breathtaking. It was Ronaldo who started the break. He passed to Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Ruud made an amazing run through the left hand side, he dribble past a player, remember this is a one of the most pacy break I have ever seen, with his side foot he played a beautiful ball onto Ronaldo who had made a terrific run in the D-area, Ronaldo then with his left foot past a peach of a ball onto Rooney who had made another magnificent run at the far post. He finished off what I yelled, "what a break". The 3 R's from ManUtd, I think they need them and Ronaldo is as equally valuable to the side as Ruud and Rooney. I think ManUtd supporters will agree.

he has been diving for last 2-3 years since i know him playing for manchester united. if he has the skill then why do he have to dive to get goals. He has taken all these diving to a ridiculous degree when you have to say thats enough. he has crossed the breaking limit of several fans.

everybody dives ? who else dives?
have you seen ronaldinho needing dive to score goals. i have never seen ronaldinho dive for barcelona. have you seen zidane diving. if he has talent (which he obvioulsly has ) then should show that more often.what he is doing is simply not football.

i wonder why FIFA is acting so weak unlike ICC. why cant a player be punished even after match is finished by seeing the television replays.

Podolski played excellent, and well deserves the award. The itching factor was though how people went after C.Ronaldo, and judged him on what is projected by Media.

It is like how in Nepal sometime a good player is targetted by fans and even personally attacked (sometimes Physically too). I was also concenrned about his frequent diving, and watched many replays where he has fallen. In most instances, he has been touched by others. Chances are the momentum and the way he plays; the speed and how he wants to control over the ball, makes him fall.

If he was not a superb player, he would not have been playing for Machester United. If he was so much disliked for the falls, then how could he have been with the M.U. team so far, why didn't they kick him out if his attitudes were so bizzare?

He is just being spotlighted on the "Heat of the issue". This player has something which took him to such a height. He can be commented on his divings, but his crossings and dribbling skills remain at its best.

Bidhan40 bro, you look like a novice in the world of Football.
Yes, everybody dives these days in football. It's a shame but its a fact. So let us not single out C.Ronaldo ok.
Henry dives, Ronaldo from Brazil dove in the game against France to try to win a penalty kick, Rivaldo dove in 2002 world cup and got a yellow card, Italians hmmm.... do I need to say anything about them? They are the inventors of crying, cheating and diving.
So yes everyone dives, and if you are a smart football player, you'd better learn how to dive. Didn't you watch Italy vs Australia?

Oh yeah... I would also like to see FIFA taking stronger action like ICC.. If that happens, then Italy should not be allowed to play in World Cup with more than 90 pecent of their players involved in match-fixing... Top four clubs of Italian SerieA have been relegated... I would like to see similar action by FIFA on italy. At least they should not allow the unethical, matchfixers participate in a big event as World Cup. If by not selecting ronaldo as the best young player, FIFA wants to set an example about ethics in football, why dont they ban unethical Italian players who knowingly underperform in their league in exchange of money? Isnt that the ugliest, most unethical thing to do?

rein being alleged of match fixing doesnot prove any charges. if the italian players are found gulity then they shoud be banned for playing certain time not before it is proven.

there is a limit of diving and cheating. portugal has crossed that. and how can you say italian cheats and dives. you might be referring into australian game. where even australian paper admitted that italian deserved penalty because you cannot slide infront of other players just to obstruct the way of the going player.

anyway not every team has been bad to the extent potugal has been . you need to see that. anyway there are lots of video footage availabe. judge it for yourself. when you see players diving at each and every instance then certainly it is not football.

everybody dives but portugal has taken this to a rediculous degree. and remember we are talking about just a single game . if you deny this even after seeing this video then i have nothing to say because this vdieo speaks for themselves.

bidhan bro... I never said that italian palyers play rough or they cheat or they dive too much. No they dont do that. I agree that Itlaians deserved penalty in that Australia match. And I am not a Portugal fan either. But the disturbing thing is if you come from a small nation and if u dont have sufficient say in FIFA, you become the victim of unnecessary criticism... just lke Portugese are suffering at the hands of these high-handed pro-English officials. I do think that Portugese have palyed a little bit rough.. but the things are being blown out of proportion by people. Without any doubt , I think C. Ronaldo was the best young player... Boy o Boy he's got the talent... his driblling, speed are simply awesome... And if you run at that speed, even a slightest of the touches can knock you down, that is not necessarily a dive.

See... if Portugal have won against some smaller teams in the same fashion as they have won against Holland and England, I can say pretty confidently that there would have been no such outcries. Just because these things happened before these arrogant big names (Holland and England), people are crying all foul against the small Portugese team. This, to me , is a bad trend. See.. 2002 World Cup.. people were so agaisnt Koreans...why? .. they knocked out the "mighty" Italians... and all these powerful people started crying about the red card handed to Totti... just imagine what would have happened if instead of Totti , some Korean player had got that red card.. nobody would have cried that much... yeah sometimes decisions go against u.. but thats sports... if a korean player had received the red card, they wuld have said that Koreans are hard-done by the referee and things would have settled there. now see what happened when totti got the card... people started making it a huge issue... and Italian footlballers are the most unethical bunch of people... what the hell can one think of the people who kick out a player (Ahn) from their club just because he scored against Italy..
All I want if everybody, whether they come from the so called big footballing nations or from small countries like Korea or Portugal, everyone should be treated fairly... tetti ho

bidhan bro ...dont take it personal hai... we both seem to have passion for sports (not just football... but others also like cricket)...

u said "being alleged of match fixing doesnot prove any charges. if the italian players are found gulity then they shoud be banned for playing certain time not before it is proven. "

hey but these match-fixing things are no more just allegations--- they have been proved and four Itlalian Clubs (Lazio, Juventus, Florentina and AC Milan or InterMilan -- i am not sure AC or Inter) have been relegated. And if u see the current Ilalian squad, most players are from these clubs...

Bidhan bro... see this:

source: www.bbc.co.uk

Relegation call for Italian four

The Italian Football Federation's prosecutor has called for all four clubs at the centre of the match-fixing scandal to be thrown out of Serie A.

Stefano Palazzi called for Juventus to drop two divisions and for AC Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio to drop one.

He also asked for points penalties to be imposed and that Juve's 2005 and 2006 titles be stripped from the club.

And on a bad day for Juve, coach Fabio Capello resigned, paving the way for a return to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Juve's shares dived on the Milan stock market following Palazzi's comments.

Earlier on Tuesday, the third day of Italy's biggest sports trial, Italian Football Federation (FIGC) official Paolo Bergamo resigned.

Bergamo is one of two officials under suspicion involved in the allocation of referees - his lawyer unsuccessfully argued he was now no longer liable to be tried by a sports tribunal.

MATCH-FIXING PROBE TIMELINE
4 May: Intercepted phone conversations between Juve's Luciano Moggi and Pierluigi Pairetto, a former member of the federation's refereeing commission, published
8 May: FIGC president Franco Carraro resigns
11 May: FIGC vice-president Innocenzo Mazzini and entire Juve board resign
14 May: Juve win title - general manager Luciano Moggi quits
29 June: Football tribunal begins
The trial was initially suspended on Thursday and proceedings were again held up on Monday by another round of arguments over legal procedure.

Thirteen players in the 23-strong Italian squad, including five from Juve, are from the four accused clubs.

... this is just a part of the news...

that still isnt proved rein. it is still in trial.its not good to come to conclusion yet. a prosecuter may appeal for for relegation because he is the one who has initiated legal action. it doesnot mean that it is proven.
but yeah seems like something is going on.
in law it is said that you are clean until proven gulity. if these players are found guilty they should be relegated or banned for sometime.

Any one following Italian football knows that match-fixing scandal is there in itlay from quite a long time now. but evertime things get fizzled out with other "important " things taking the center-stage. this time it looks like betting by these palyers and officials have crossed the limit and things are getting ugly... but I think any trial in italy will not bring out the whole truth. For this independent trials , on FIFA's initiatives, should be carried out. Otherwise, italians trial will always try to limit the damage by not fully bringing out the truth.

Bidhan40, you said that Portugal has crossed the limit of diving and cheating.
Can you, if you could, explain what is the limit? And how in the hell did you come to a point to say "there is a limit in diving and cheating?"

And you said Italians don't dive and cheat. Are you kidding me? How old are you and for how long have you been watching football? Now I am starting to doubt your knowledge in this sport.
Italians were one of the first ones to come up with diving and cheating and crying foul. There is even a satarical saying in Europe "If you want to learn how to dive, and cry, you need to play for an Italian Club." I am sorry if you don't have even the slightest idea about it.
But time and again saying that Portugese team is the biggest cheater shows how naive you are. It is alright to not like a team if it beat your favourite team. But to go on and on to falsely accuse a team that too after listening to a biased media shows your sheepish mentality. Learn to think for yourself.

hurray who has falsely accused portugal. they are booed all over the world. you just see the video and not the commentry. why do you call engish as a bias commentry. how can you prove that . do you think anything said in that piece of commentry is wrong.
i was watching the match through espn which is infact american . they made similar comment in sportscenter.

and by the way hurray i supported portugal in the match against england in eurocup. now i regret i shouldnt have . it is their style of playing that has forced to changed my opinion.
i dont know about italy introducing cheating because i have been watching them since 1990 world cup. but what i have seen of portugal this year is simply not football. why do they have to resort to faking all the time being such a talented team. just wait and watch i wont be surprised if refree takes serious action against portugal and particularly tomorrow. becuase we all know what to expect from their team. i am pretty sure ronaldo will be carded.

Hurray bro, mero bhannu kehi chaina. Tara euta kura k, why are you blaming others for diving? Aru le je garyo Portugal le pani tehi ganu parcha bhanne cha ra bro? Yedi Christiano Ronaldo khatra kheladi cha bhane uslai dive garnu parne sthiti ma kahi pani dekhdina. Usle chalayera athwa euta daami pass nikalera pani Portugal lai goal hanna sakcha. Ho Italy le dive garcha tara timro argument anusar, Italy le dive garyo tesaile Portugal le pani garda thik ho, bhanne chahi malai ekdam chitta bujhera bro. Ho halla badhi bhayo hola tyo kura chuttai ho tara timle tesari Portugal lai uniharuko kehi pani fault nai chaina bhanera defend gareko chahi alikati selfish bhayo jasto lagyo bro malai. So, please maybe come up with a better argument.

Second half ta 25 minutes ko game pani bhayena. Tara I am not going to totally defend Holland because they committed foul too just as much and Figo gadha le head butt gareko kura ta timlai pani tha chadai cha. Tara I dont think the you will get an extreme view from a die hard Dutch fan that is bitterly disappointed with Portugal experience. Portugal ma ramra kheladi haru chan bro tyo kasaile pani haina bhanna sakdaina. Jhan sano desh lai media le ta nagarla tara manche haru le dherai nai support gareko maile dekheko chu. maile mero bichar dhara matra pokheko bro. baki bidhan ko video le pani batayo. Maybe English media is biased but, I sincerely hope that you are not saying the video is being cooked up, or are you?

Orange Boy, I never said that it was fine for Portugal to dive since Italians do the same. In fact, I was saying that to hold portugese team as a scapegoat for diving is not fair. All I wanted to say was, if you want to accuse Portugal for diving, or in that matter C.Ronaldo, then do so about every other player who dives. Why just pick C.Ronaldo.
So next time try not to turn my argument towards me. It simply won't work :)
And about Figo's head butting the dutch player, did you forget who badly the dutch player covered his face and fell on the ground as if he had been shot at point blank? Now that is where the whole faking started. And Figo just followed later on. And what about Deco being thrown on the ground after he picked the ball, huh? Dutch are known to play rough, and that is what they did in that match. Or at least they started. Portugal just played along.

Bidhan40, Portugese team were not labeled divers in France, in Italy or in Germany right after their match against England. It was all spread by British media. Yes, I do not disagree that they have dove, in some instance too much. But why make such a big hue and cry when many other teams do the same? If you want to, then why separate just Portugal? Is it because they beat your favorite team? If so, then your opinions are going to be biased. There is no surprise.

just tell me any other team that has faked even half as much as portugal in this world cup. and you say it started agaisnt enaldn. but for me it was the match against netherlands and particulary against france that made me blieve.
against france it was almsot each and every time they fell on the ground as if to make issue. and you know what this is what ronaldo has to say after the match. i believe if the refree would have just acted normally then there was sure to have 2-3 red card for portugal and probably one for henry as well.

RONALDO:
"Everyone who saw the match could see that the referee wasn't fair.

"He should have shown yellow cards but he did not because Portugal is a small country.

"We just have to carry on working and then we will be a big country
