The Role of Religion in the Reconstruction of Nepal
You are cordially invited to the launch of PeopleKoBot – a Chhalphal Discussion Series in New York, with its inaugural talk entitled "The Role of Religion in the Reconstruction of Nepal" by Chinta Mani Yogi, an educationist, social worker and philosopher based in Nepal.
The aim of PeopleKoBot is to provide a forum for thought-provoking, insightful discussions on current events, culture, people and society related to Nepal. Taking inspiration from the spontaneous conversations that arise around peepal trees throughout Nepal, PeopleKoBot invites anyone who is interested in Nepal to join us to share, learn and debate in a democratic and friendly atmosphere. The group will convene on a regular basis in New York City to provide a platform for debate, friendships and social networking.
The first talk program is entitled "The Role of Religion in the Reconstruction of Nepal." After more than a century, Nepal has been declared a secular state by the current interim government. How will this affect the development efforts of the country? What role has religion played in the governance and social fabric of Nepal until now? What role can religion play in the political and socio-economic climate going forward, particularly given the ethnic and caste diversity in Nepal? These are the types of questions the forum will discuss, led by the well-known educationist, social-worker and spiritual figure, Chinta Mani Yogi. About the Program:
Mr. Chinta Mani Yogi, a well-known educationist, social worker, philosopher, and a scholar in eastern philosophy, is touring the US, providing his insights at various forums.
Mr. Yogi has accepted a request to lead a discussion at "PeepleKoBot - Chhalphal Discussion Series" in New York on Wednesday, February 28th entitled "The Role of Religion in the Reconstruction of Nepal." A 90 minutes program will begin with Mr. Yogi's talk followed by Q&A.
About Chinta Mani Yogi:
Mr. Yogi is the founder and principal of Hindu Vidya Peeth-Nepal (HVP), a not-for-profit school that focuses on educating children from financially challenged families. The three HVP schools stand apart from other private and public schools in their vision and objectives. By imparting moral and spiritual values, these schools aspire to develop nation builders for the new millennium and go beyond the near-mechanized process of churning out literate 16-year olds.
Mr. Yogi has a B.Ed. in Nepali Language and an M.A. in Philosophy (Sanskrit). He is a seasoned teacher of yoga and mediation and holds diplomas in Yoga Education and Yogic Therapy.
Mr. Yogi is a visionary personality dedicated to the dissemination of the ideals of selfless service, peace, non-violence and fraternity. His self-proclaimed mission is to help develop human society focused more on service to each other. To materialize his dream, Mr. Yogi has established a couple of social service organizations. He is the founder of Shanti Sewa Ashram (SSA), a common forum of about 21 different social, cultural and educational organizations, which mainly focuses on community service. Similarly, he has been a guiding personality for youths involved in the Youth Society for Peace (YSP).
With the message of non-violence, selfless service, tolerance and inter-religious harmony he frequently tours Nepal as well as other countries. His visits have been hailed by numerous people as helpful in their quest for self-realization and self-awakening.
Mr. Yogi has received several awards including, National Sanskrit Glory Youth Honor (by Kabiratna Krishna Prasad Ghimire Smriti Pratisthan), Senior Educationist and Social Worker Award (by National Development and Honor Centre-Nepal), Basudev Dhakal Goraksha Nath Puraskar (by Mahendra Sanskrit University) and many more.
Mr. Yogi has also authored several books including, Gyan Prahelica, Stuti Sangraha, Hamro Vani Hamro Geet, Aham Pathami Sanskritam (Sanskrit), Hindu Dharma-Ek Chintan, Bal Leela, Isha Van, Chinta Ra Chintan, Dharm Ganga, Chintan Ka Saral Sutraharu, and Myanma Ko Maya.
