I checked my mail late, only to find that I was invited to be the ambassador of the college to attend one of the seminars in Montreal, Canada with the college President. The seminar is from Wednesday, March 28 to Friday, March 30. I am an F-1 Student her in US. Is it still possible for me to attend this seminar relating with visa issue? Or you guys guys think I am too late to get a visa? Or is it something that a college can do and/or work on my behalf to make it possible for me to attend this seminar and return back without any hassle at immigration? Any experience or knowledge that you could share with me in the related matter will be highly appreciated.

You Can goto a Canadian consulate and obtain visitor visa the same day. Just take your passport, passport photos and I-20 to the nearest canadian consulate.

Yes, you can get your visa the same day OR you could apply for a visa by mailing them the reqd. documents and your passport. Getting a visa to Canada for your purpose should not be a big deal. My only concern is, do you have visa to get back to the U.S.? The U.S. Visa on your passport must be current and not expired. If it has expired, you'll need to reapply for the visa at a US Consulate and that's a whole different story. But to answer your query, getting a Canadian Visa is a simple process. Goodluck. M

AS matib said its easy to get Canadian visa the same day if you have all the document that you need to present to the embassy. For detail check this site. http://geo.international.gc.ca/can-am/detroit/right_nav/_trvapplicationandinstructions-en.asp. And also, don't worry if your US visa has expired. By law you can re-enter US within 30 days if you visit Canada, Mexico or any Caribbean Island. To verify it, you can check page 2 of your I 20. However, remember to ask back your I94 when you show that in the border. You got to tell them that u r a F1 student here and you need to present your I 94 to re-enter to US. I have personally verified this with my International school advisor and this is what they have told me. You call always call your international school advisor and verify it. My 2 cents......
