Some musings.

Okay if Trafalgar had taken place, the brits would not have won because ......See the updated dialogue between Nelson & Hardy in "today's Trafalgar", below:

**********************
Nelson: Order the signal Hardy.

Hardy: Aye, aye sir.

Nelson: Hold on, that's not what I dictated to the signal officer. What's the meaning of this?

Hardy: Sorry sir?

Nelson: (reading aloud) What gobbledygook is this? "England expects every person to do his/her duty, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious persuasion or disability"

Hardy: Admiralty policy, I'm afraid sir. We're an equal opportunities employer now. We had the devils own job getting 'England' past the censors, lest it be considered racist.

Nelson: Gadzooks, Hardy. Hand me my pipe and tobacco.

Hardy: Sorry sir. All naval vessels have been designated smoke-free working environments.

Nelson: In that case, break open the rum ration. Let us splice the main brace to steel the men before battle.

Hardy: The rum ration has been abolished. Admiral. Its part of the Government's policy on binge drinking.

Nelson: Good heavens, Hardy. I suppose we'd better get on with it. Full speed ahead.

Hardy: I think you will find that there is a 4 knot speed limit in this stretch of water.

Nelson: Damn it man! We are on the eve of the greatest sea battle in history. We must advance with all dispatch. Report from the crows nest, please.

Hardy: That won't be possible, sir.

Nelson: What?

Hardy: Health and safety have closed the crows nest, sir. No handrail, and they said the rope ladder doesn't meet regulations. They won't let anyone up there until proper scaffolding can be erected.

Nelson: Then get me the ships carpenter without delay, Hardy.

Hardy: He's busy knocking up a wheelchair access to the fo'c'sle Admiral.

Nelson: Wheelchair access? I never heard of anything so absurd.

Hardy: Health and safety again sir. We have to provide a barrier free environment for the differently abled.

Nelson: Differently abled? I've only one arm and one eye and I refuse even to hear mention of the word. I didn't rise to the rank of Admiral by playing the disability card.

Hardy: Actually you did sir. The Royal Navy is under-represented in the areas of visual impairment and limb deficiency.

Nelson: Whatever next? Give me full sail. The salt spray beckons.

Hardy: A couple of problems there too, sir. Health and safety won't let the crew up the rigging without crash helmets. And they don't want anyone breathing in too much salt - haven't you seen the adverts?

Nelson: I've never heard of such infamy. Break out the cannon and tell the men to stand by to engage the enemy.

Hardy: The men are a bit worried about shooting at anyone, Admiral.

Nelson: What? This is mutiny.

Hardy: It's not that sir. It's just that they're afraid of being charged with murder if they actually kill anyone there's a couple of legal aid lawyers on board, watching everyone like hawks.

Nelson: Then how are we to sink the Frenchies and the Spanish?

Hardy: Actually sir, we're not.

Nelson: We're not?

Hardy: No sir. The Frenchies and the Spanish are our European partners now. According to the Common Fisheries Policy, we shouldn't even be in this stretch of water. We could get hit with a claim for compensation.

Nelson: But you must hate a Frenchman as you hate the devil?

Hardy: I wouldn't let the ships diversity coordinator hear you saying that sir. You'll be up on disciplinary.

Nelson: You must consider every man and enemy who speaks ill of your King.

Hardy: Not any more, sir. We must be inclusive in this multicultural age. Now put on your Kevlar vest; it's the rules.

Nelson: Don't tell me - health and safety. Whatever happened to rum, sodomy and the lash?

Hardy: As I explained sir. Rum is off the menu! And there's a ban on corporal punishment.

Nelson: What about Sodomy?

Hardy: I believe its still allowed, sir.

Nelson: In that case - "kiss me Hardy"!

**** The End ******

Sandhurst,

You really ought to have put a warning before you posted that you know...I almost killed myself having just sat down to read with a cup of Cofee when the hysterics broke loose!

Personally, I think the "Politically Correct" phrases and terminology that is required nowadays does cause a fair amount of consternation to present day citizens..Poor Lord Nelson...must be turning in his grave to think of what's become of the Royal Forces!

Marvellous article though..in spite of the near death hot cofee induced choking episode!!

Goodness me Nepaali,

I'd been screaming in every other threads about your whereabouts! So so good to 'see' you back... I too took a long break but great to be back. Was so caught up with work and my travelling regime for most part of last month/over the Christmas break. I trust that all is well with you and that the West Coast has lived up to your expectations..

Hey I have got to shoot off for now, dark already. Glad that you found the post funny. My apologies about the taato-coffee induced choking episode... :):) But you won't sue me for getting you to put up with the choking business, would you?... :)

See you err... tomorrow?? haita.. Happy Monday and also happy coffee-drinking, and err choking too..... :))

Goodnite, Miss.

Sandhurst,

It's good to "see" you too. I apologise for the dissappearing act that I seem to have unintentionally mastered. I was busy with the tortures of exam after which I procrastinated much more than necessary during the winter break and it's been a hectic first week back in school..but, all in all, it was a wonderful break. Managed to do far more partying than I had planned on and I am quite sure my Liver is none too happy!!

Ah..the West Coast, yes, the sunshine of California was great but now I have been living under perpetual rain clouds so not much activity around these parts..other than darting in and out of buildings and cars!!

"See" you tomorrow.

Nepaali,
Delighted to hear that the 'perpetual rain clouds' of the West Coast has not dampened your lively spirit. Talking about the West Coast, I have been to Seattle once long time back - mid nineties but not to your part of the world. Some really fond memories. Also glad that your California break was fun and hope that the liver has not yet given you any head-in as yet! I too had a few dos to attend; there was one last Friday. So there's obviously this girth-extension to my otherwise trimmed belly curve that I need to take care of urgently! More time on the tread-mill, I'm afraid! :)

Good luck with your school.

*******
Flipu,
Yeah, reunion but the Sandhrst/F-Flop one took place way before than this one, innit?? :) I trust that the sultry southern mausam is not affecting your droll sense of humour. It had better not. Take care.

Amazing,

What's his name? And you said, you joined up last year? Do you know his DOB?

Fire a quick post. I'll see what I can do. Yes, we do have a website but little will it do in the way of finding personal details/whereabouts. I have good contacts in places who can pinpoint his location but I cannot gaurantee.

Amazing,

Far too many Ranas. Fire me a quick email with his other details (first name etc); we'll take it from there.

Yes, as Ladyinred says, it won't look nice if we were exchange info of a personal nature in public forums such as this. Cheers.

Sandhurst,

I dare say that you needn't worry much about the progression of girth--I'm sure the many rounds of Golf that you tend to devour will aid in keeping a check on that expanding midline!

So you've made to the Emerald City Eh?..I presume the weather agreed with you. It's much like England--one is in perpetual need of an umbrella/rain coat, but the weather aside, it is a beatuiful city. I'm a recent transplant but love every minute of life here.

The city has so much to offer. A very vibrant music scene and an equally eclectic Art and Theatre scene. The bohemian lifestyle is a staple and once you stop getting fazed by the lifestyle here in the "Soviet of Washington" (the city comes with it's very own life size statue of Lenin, sitauted a few feet from a rocket ship, a troll under a bridge and a sculpture of people waiting for a bus at a bus stop that was never built!!) it's a city I would not want to part with any time in the near future.

I hope your work hasn't been too hectic post break.

"See" you soon ya?

Cheers,

Indeed Sandhurst. Nice to see you around with your witty and humorous responses....The weather's been unpredictable here. Time for me to be an audience and watch the game quietly...:D But I promise to be an exception...An audience who gets involve in the game itself..:P Can't resist to be a part of interesting games...

You too take care Lahureji.:)
